Community Alarms

Community alarms are ideal for elderly and disabled people, especially those who are living alone. People suffering from long-term medical conditions can also benefit from a community alarm. With one touch of a button, you’ll be in contact with our UK-based Response Team, who can arrange for help to come to you within a few short moments.

Community Alarms - The Base Unit

The community alarm system comes in two separate parts, the first of which is the base unit. Anyone can install this unit within minutes. Simply plug it into the mains power and your telephone socket. Your telephone can then be connected to the back of the base unit, via the adaptor provided.

The base unit allows you to communicate with our Response Team when you need help or just for your monthly alarm check. It has a built-in microphone and loudspeaker for clear communication. The base unit also has a rechargeable back-up battery which will keep the alarm running during a power cut.

If you need help, you can press the red button on the base unit and speak to the Response Team. If you ever activate the alarm by mistake, don’t worry. Just tell the Response Team it’s a false alarm and they’ll handle the rest.

Community Alarms - MyAmie Pendant

Each of our Community Alarms comes with a MyAmie Pendant device. This pendant can be worn around your wrist or neck, with two comfortable wearing attachments included. It’s small and discreet so that you feel as comfortable as possible whilst wearing it.

You’ll be able to use your pendant in the bath or shower, as it comes with waterproof functionality. With an impressive range of up to 100 metres from the base unit, the pendant also works outside in the garden. You’ll be asked to test the pendant in your garden when you speak to our Response Team for the first time.

The pendant runs on the 869MHz European Social Alarm Frequency which means that it won’t interfere with any other medical equipment in your home.

Using your Community Alarm

Community alarms are designed with simplicity and speed in mind. If you have a fall at home, feel unwell, or are worried for your safety in any way, simply push the red button on your pendant or base unit.

This sends an alert call through to our UK Monitoring Centre. Every member of our Response Team is trained to deal with a wide range of emergency situations. The Response Team is available 24/7, all year round to support our alarm users.

Once an alert call has been made, a member of the Response Team will respond via the base unit. They’ll ask you what has happened and if you’re okay, before taking appropriate action. This will involve contacting your emergency contacts (family, friends and neighbours) and, if needed, the emergency services.

Should you require medical attention, the Response Team will share your medical history with the paramedics.
