Customer Q&A - Mary Fletcher

In this week's Q&A, we speak to 98 year old Lifeline user Mary Fletcher who had her personal alarm for over two years. In these question and answer sessions, we try and get an insight into the lives of our customers and how they use their personal alarms. Whilst speaking to Mrs Fletcher, we learnt that she lives in Derbyshire, enjoys reading and watching television.

Why did you choose to order a Personal Alarm?

I have had some falls in the past and was worried it would happen again so my family wanted me to get an alarm. In the past I have tripped over myself getting out of a chair and fallen against some furniture, so I wanted to have help should this happen again.

Have you used the Personal Alarm?

I have used the alarm three times to summon help from Lifeline. The last time I fell partly downstairs and had to call the alarm company to get someone to come and help me.

How helpful were the Response Team during this incident?

The Response Team were very helpful and prompt in summoning help from my family. After speaking to me, they contacted my son straight way and he was with me within five minutes!

What difference has the Personal Alarm made?

The alarm has helped me to feel confident should I fall again anywhere in the house. I know that I can get help straight away, and my family are glad I have the alarm should I need it.

What message would you give to those who are anxious about having a Personal Alarm?

It is no trouble having the button around my neck, it feels like a necklace or jewellery pendant. You soon get used to it and hardly notice it's there, but you're glad it is when you need it!
