Live-in Care Support is a service that provides an elderly or disabled person with a dedicated carer in the comfort of their own home. Their carer will live with them for a set number of weeks, helping them with their everyday needs.
The service has been designed to help older people, those living with long-term medical conditions, disabled people, and anybody who lives alone and simply requires some company.
Live-in Care providers work with you and your family to ensure that they find the most suitable carer.
Each Live-in Care Support provider will conduct their own background checks and request references and certificates to ensure that all carers meet the high standards required for the role.
Once you apply for a Live-in Care service, you will be matched with the most appropriate carer for your needs and personality. For example, a person with dementia would be matched with a carer with previous experience of caring for someone with the condition. The service user and their family will be consulted throughout the process to ensure the best possible match.
When a suitable match has been found, you will be sent their profile and an introductory video. This gives you the opportunity to be completely certain the whole family is united behind the decision.
Once the ideal carer has been chosen for you, your provider will arrange for a trial week. This allows you and your loved ones to become familiar with the carer you’ll be living with before you commit to the service.
If you give the go-ahead, your new carer will move into your home for a certain block of time – usually a few weeks. They’ll normally have a week off every 4-5 weeks, with another ‘respite’ carer moving in to look after you.
Your Live-in carer will be there to support you with your everyday needs. Each case is different, but most people receive support with preparing meals, getting dressed, cleaning around the home, mobility, personal hygiene, and errands such as shopping.
