How does the Lifeline Alarm work?
A standard Lifeline Alarm is made up of two parts: an alarm base unit and a pendant button. These two components work together to provide a life-saving service. Here’s how it works:
The Base Unit
The alarm base unit is a sleek, grey box that resembles an internet modem. The top of the unit features three buttons, which are most commonly used for testing the alarm.
- The standard alarm unit connects to your telephone socket, so it can make and receive phone calls.
- The alarm and pendant button can communicate with each other wirelessly.
- The base unit contains a built-in microphone and speaker. This allows for easy communication between the user and the Response Team.

The MyAmie Pendant
The standard Lifeline Alarm comes with a red MyAmie pendant button. This pendant is small and discreet, comfortable enough to wear all day long. Users can choose to wear it on a wrist strap or neck cord; both attachments are provided.
- Water-resistant: The pendant can be used in the shower or bath – where falls are likely to occur.
- No Charging: the battery will last around seven years. When it gets low, we’ll receive an automatic alert and send you a brand new replacement free of charge.
- Impressive 100m Range: Use the pendant throughout your house and garden for total peace of mind.
