The alarm button works with a base unit which is connected to the main telephone line. When the button is pressed, it activates an alarm call via the base unit.
The call will go through to our monitoring centre where our 24-Hour Response Team will answer the call and speak to the user over the built-in microphone and loudspeaker.
The Response team will assess the situation and arrange help for the user. Each Lifeline user will have a list of emergency contacts, whom our team will call when the alarm is activated. If the emergency contacts aren't available, or if medical assistance is needed, then our team will call the emergency services.
